The Diamonds I Use

At Katie Rose Jewellery, every diamond is chosen with intention—sourced for its beauty, quality, and ethical traceability. Whether you’re commissioning a bespoke piece or choosing from an existing design, you can trust that each stone has been carefully selected to honour both craftsmanship and meaning.

Understanding Diamond Grading

Diamonds are graded using the “4Cs”: Cut, Colour, Clarity, and Carat. These characteristics determine a diamond’s overall quality and value.

Cut
    •    Cut: Not to be confused with shape, cut refers to how well the diamond’s facets interact with light. A well-cut diamond will sparkle with brilliance and fire.

Colour

    •    Colour: Diamonds are graded from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow). I work with stones in the G colour grade and above, which appear bright and white to the eye.

Clarity 
    •    Clarity: This refers to how many internal or external inclusions a diamond may have. I only use diamonds with a clarity of SI1 and above, which means any inclusions are minor and often invisible to the naked eye.

Carat
    •    Carat: A measure of a diamond’s weight. Larger carats are rarer and more valuable, but beauty can be found at every size when the cut, colour, and clarity are well balanced.

 

My Standard of Quality

All of larger diamonds sourced for Katie Rose Jewellery are of SI1 clarity or better, and G colour or higher.
Smaller accent stones (used in settings and detailing) are consistently FG colour and SI clarity, ensuring that every element of your piece is harmonious and refined.

Choosing Your Diamond

When you’re creating a custom piece, I’ll personally select a curated range of diamond options that offer the best balance of clarity, colour, cut, and carat weight within your budget. These will be handpicked for their overall beauty—not just their grades on paper.

You’ll then be invited to view and compare the diamonds, either in person or virtually, so you can choose the one that speaks to you. I’m here to guide you every step of the way, ensuring your diamond feels just right for you.
